Originally from Memphis, Margie attended college at UT Knoxville where she studied Biosystems Engineering and Religious Studies. Knoxville is also where she fell in love with small scale agriculture and started wondering about how faith might interact with growing food and caring for land.

After college, Margie worked on farms in Pennsylvania and Montana before moving to Durham. Margie is currently in the final year of her M.Div. and is pursuing a concentration in Faith, Food, and Environmental Justice. At Duke and beyond, she is interested in exploring connections between theology, agriculture, and creation care. Margie is on the leadership council of Farm Church in Durham and is a candidate for ordination in the Mid-South Presbytery of the PC(USA).
